The Uncommon Cafe is owned and operated by husband and wife sustainably minded team, Lisa & Luc Leimanis. The goal is simple - make great homemade food while attempting to be 90% sustainable. You won't find mayo jars or ketchup here and almost all of the take out containers are bio-degradable. They even went so far as buying 90% of their décor and equipment from pre-owned sources. Who needs to buy new?
Not only are there yummy sandwiches, baked goods and great locally sourced beverages but they're even selling some local products. Come in for a coffee and a sandwich and walk out with some locally made hot sauce or jam and a new place to prop your weary feet.

She was born and raised in France, around Reims, in the Champagne’s region, lucky to have enjoyed the vineyard countryside most of her childhood. Her love for food started early with her father being a very well know caterer in the region, Hubert Gerard Traiteur. As soon as she was an age to work, straight to the kitchen! Valentine moved to Paris when she was 18 to attend Hotel Management School. She then traveled to work in Hotels in Singapore, Paris, New Orleans, Toronto and now set in Vancouver. Her French background brings a great edge and tasty flare to the cafe and you can taste her famous choux (cream puffs) every Thursday & Friday!
